Guitar

Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues is a classical guitarist and comes from Portugal. He gives concerts and works as a guitar teacher and arranger. His debut album of his own transcriptions of Carlos Seixas’ sonatas is the only recording for solo guitar devoted exclusively to works by this Portuguese composer.

Originally he was very interested in karate, but his older brother soon introduced him to various instruments. After a fado performance in which he was accompanied by José Fontes Rocha, Amália Rodrigues’ legendary guitarist, the latter advised his parents to enroll him in regular music training.

Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues studied with Dejan Ivanovic at the Conservatório de Música Jaime Chavinha in Minde (Portugal) and with Darko Petrinjak at the Academy of Music in Zagreb (Croatia). He attended master classes with Zoran Dukic, Carlo Marchione, Pablo Márquez and Costas Cotsiolis.

In addition to his activity as a soloist, Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues is also active as a chamber musician, performing together as a duo with soprano, flute or viola. He is also a founding member of the guitar trio “Elogio” (together with Petrit Çeku and Tomislav Vukšic).

Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues teaches guitar and chamber music at the Music School “Zlatko Grgoševic” in Zagreb and is co-founder and lecturer at the Festival Youngmasters in Samobor (Croatia). His students have already won numerous prizes at international competitions. Recently, at a lecture, he presented a new teaching method for guitar called “Well-tempered lesson”.
