Martin Schleske is one of the most renowned violin makers of our time and combines craftsmanship, art and science in a unique way. The master violin maker, physicist and author runs a master atelier in Landsberg am Lech, where around thirty instruments are created every year, which are played by leading international soloists and concert masters. The New York Times described him as “one of the leading violin makers of our time”.
At the heart of Schleske’s work is the search for sound as an artistic and human expression. His instruments, his scientific research and his writing all revolve around questions of resonance, perception and beauty. The results of his acoustic research have been adopted by the Deutsches Museum in Munich, among others.
With his award-winning books, including The Sound – The Unheard-of Meaning of LifeMartin Schleske reaches an international audience. At the :alpenarte Festival, he designs the exhibition, combining music, craftsmanship and artistic reflection.
