Gabriel Meloni was born on 20.4.2001 in Dornbirn. He received his first piano lessons from his sister. 2010-2015 he studied with Ivan Kárpáti at the music school in Dornbirn. From 2015-January 2018 he was with Gerhard Vielhaber at the Vorarlberger Landeskonservatorium and in parallel with Oliver Schnyder. He then moved to the class of Konstantin Scherbakov at the PreCollege of the Zurich University of the Arts. Since 2020 he has been studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Jan Jiracek von Arnim.
He is a laureate of several competitions, including winning the third prize at the international “Jenö Takacs Competition” in Burgenland in 2012, and a third prize at the International Piano Competition “Nuova Coppa Pianisti” in Osimo (IT) in December 2019. He also won several first prizes and special prizes at the national competition “Prima La Musica”. He has already participated three times in the “Vienna Young Pianists” Masterclass in Vienna, where he won the interpretation prize twice and the “Münchner Klavierpodium” prize once.
In October 2015, he participated in a masterclass with Lang Lang at the Vienna Musikverein; 10 out of 350 children worldwide were selected for this camp. He attended further master classes with Paul Gulda, Pierre Réach, Michel Béroff, Pavel Gililov, Cristina Karajeva, Arnulf von Arnim, Ian Fountain and Ruben Dalibaltayan. Since May 2016 he is a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Music Academy.
Gabriel is also active as a chamber musician, winning several first and special prizes at international and national competitions, including Turin.
He has often been invited as a soloist by orchestras such as the Musikfreunde Bregenz, Kammerorchester Innstrumenti Tirol, Collegium Instrumentale Dornbirn, Kammerorchester Knittelfeld, Jugendsinfonieorchester Dornbirn and the Konservatoriumorchester Feldkirch. He also received invitations from EPTA, ORF and the state of Vorarlberg to play a recital.
