Irishman Eoin Ducrot is one of the most promising violinists of his generation. During his studies in Ireland, France and Switzerland, he has become a well-rounded artist who performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. Recently he was awarded the 3rd prize at the prestigious Zurich competition “Rahn Music Prize”. He also won a concerto competition in Basel, whereupon he was given the opportunity to perform Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto with the Basel Symphony Orchestra.

At the age of 17, Eoin Ducrot received outstanding reviews for his world premiere of Sam Perkins 2nd Violin Concerto “Voice” dedicated to him. He has already performed at the Engadin Festival as well as at the Swiss Chamber Music Festival in Adelboden. He gave further concerts in Italy, France and Ireland as part of a summer tour in 2017. Eoin Ducrot performs as a duo together with the Italian pianist Chiara Opalio, with whom he won the 1st prize at the “HSM Duo Competition”. They give concerts all over Europe and play in the Zurich Tonhalle in 2019. They have also been invited by Sir András Schiff to perform at the Beethovenfest in Bonn in June 2019.

As first violinist of the Opalio Quintet, Eoin Ducrot was a winner at the “Ysaÿe International Music Competition” and at the “International Chamber Music Competition” in Pinerolo and Turin, semi-finalist at the “Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes” and winner of the 2nd prize at the “Orpheus” competition.

He is also first violinist of the Hydra Ensemble in Cork, Ireland, which undertook a six-concert summer tour as a quartet and quintet in 2016, supported by the Irish Arts Council. Since 2013, Eoin Ducrot has been a “Young Artist” of the West Cork Chamber Music Festival. Recently he was concertmaster of the Aurora Festival Orchestra in Sweden as well as the Basel University Orchestra. He is also a member of the New Orchestra Basel.

The young violinist completed his master’s degree in Switzerland with distinction. He is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel as part of a soloist master’s program in the class of Raphaël Oleg and as part of a string quartet master’s program with Rainer Schmidt.

Eoin Ducrot attended master classes with world-renowned musicians such as András Schiff, Midori, Sarah Chang, Ferenc Rados and Ana Chumachenco, as well as with various quartets, including the Hagen Quartet, Cuarteto Casals, Kelemen Quartet, Danish String Quartet, Doric String Quartet, Zemlinsky Quartet, Quatuor Danel and Vanbrugh Quartet.
