At the tender age of 8, Christoph Moschberger coaxed the first notes out of an old trumpet from the local village band. He soon developed a keen curiosity for all kinds of music, which he has retained to this day. Free from any fear of contact, Christoph experienced his youth as a great musical playground. Forges like the Bundesjazzorchester brought first encounters with later idols and mentors like Ack van Rooyen or Andy Haderer. He also began his jazz studies with the latter in the music metropolis of Cologne. Musicals, studio work and his first tours filled his calendar and soon made Christoph one of the most sought-after trumpeters on the Cologne scene. With his own projects such as the Blassportgruppe, he also walked the tightrope between art and commerce.

His versatility still sets him apart today. He is not pigeonholed and manages – quite naturally – to form his own artistic identity from this musical balancing act without ever appearing arbitrary. On his first solo album “Home” and at regular concerts as a soloist, he impressively demonstrates this time and again. He has been a member of Federspiel since 2022 and gives individual and ensemble coaching for existing ensembles, orchestras, big bands and brass bands.

“Regardless of whether I’m dealing with a complete beginner, an ambitious amateur, a highly talented youngster or a veteran professional trumpeter – the challenge is always to help everyone take the next step in their development.”
