The fine charcoal line runs like a black thread through Elena Schertler’s works. Delicate yet decisive, it breaks up surfaces, connects spaces and creates tension.
Contrasts are at the center of her artistic exploration. They provide orientation – while at the same time creating stability and movement. Light needs darkness, clarity needs blurriness, lightness needs heaviness. People also need contrasts – in thoughts, in feelings, in creativity.
The exhibition sees itself as an invitation not to smooth out contrasts, but to make them visible. Different spaces are placed next to each other, even if they do not seem to fit together at first glance. It is precisely where friction arises that something new often begins.
The artist’s works do not search for harmony, but for tension – for that line that divides and connects at the same time.
Elena Schertler will design the exhibition in the foyer of :alpenarte 2025.
