Saxophone and accordion, 2 instruments that are primarily associated with jazz and folk music, but which in the hands of Duo Aliada become instruments of subtle, classical perfection. Technical virtuosity combines with emotional performance, thus opening up to Duo Aliada a wide range of popular works, from the 17th to the 20th century.
Their playing not only shows the sheer limitless potential of these instruments, it also opens up a whole new spectrum of sounds to classical music at the same time. The name “Aliada” stands for connection, and that is exactly what Duo Aliada represents: An unusual combination of saxophone and accordion, which will remain in the memory of the audience for a long time.
The Vienna Musikverein described the Aliada duo as “outstandingly talented and creative musicians” composed of saxophonist Michal Knot and accordionist Bogdan Laketic. Since their formation in 2013, the duo quickly attracted attention in the world of classical music, resulting in a busy concert schedule with more than 60 performances on 5 different continents,
including renowned performance venues such as the Vienna Musikverein.
It all started with their stunning success at the 12th annual Fidelio Competition, which Duo Aliada unanimously won with 1st prize. The duo recorded their debut album “New colors of the past” on ARS Produktion, which received critical acclaim. Furthermore, they were selected for the international program “The New Austrian Sound Of Music 2016-17”, a prestigious funding program of the Austrian government. Duo Aliada have been regularly heard on radio stations such as ORF 1, SWR 2, BR Klassik and Radio Klassik, and are very excited to share their unique music with listeners all over the world.
