David Kessler

Violin

David graduated from the Musikgymnasium Feldkirch in 2019 and received his musical education with Prof. Rudolf Rampf at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. He did his basic military service with the Gardemusik Vienna and studies violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Josef Hell. He is several times 1st prize winner at the state and national competition of “Prima la Musica” (Austria) and “Jugend musiziert” (Switzerland). In 2014 he received a special prize for “impressive virtuosity coupled with sensitive musicality”. In 2017 he won the age-open Int. Luigi Nono Chamber Music Competition in Turin, together with pianist Gabriel Meloni as the youngest participants.
David gains orchestral experience in national and international youth orchestras, as concertmaster of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra, the Quarta Vier Länder Youth Orchestra and the Rotary Youth Orchestra Germany. Furthermore as a member of the Orchestra Academy IOIA and the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy, both of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Master classes with Christoph Wyneken, Thomas Brandis, Coosje Wijzenbeek (Amsterdam Conservatory), Barbara Doll (Basel Conservatory) Leonidas Kavakos and members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra enrich his education.

He has been an academician with the Vienna Philharmonic since September 2022 and has also had a temporary contract with the Vienna State Opera. David plays on a Ferdinando Gagliano from 1770 which the Austrian National Bank made available to him after a selection audition
