The Amelio Trio has established itself as one of the leading young chamber music ensembles of its generation. Founded in 2012 by Johanna Schubert (violin), Merle Geißler (cello) and Philipp Kirchner (piano), the trio impresses with its unmistakable interplay and musical energy, which they have perfected over more than a decade of making music together.
The trio has attracted international attention in recent years with major awards such as second prize at the ARD Music Competition 2023 and winning the German Music Competition 2024. This has led to concert invitations to renowned venues such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, as well as to festivals such as the Schwetzingen SWR Festival and the Piano Trio Fest Bern.
Their debut CD will be released by GENUIN in September 2025. The trio is Ensemble in Residence at the “ProQuartet – Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre” in Paris for the 2024/25 season and has been named an ECHO (European Concert Hall Organization) Rising Star for the 2026/27 season.
