Violin

Alexandra Paladi was born in 1990 in Bucharest into a family of musicians. At the age of five she started her first violin lessons, which she continued at the renowned music high school “George Enescu” in Bucharest and as a private student of Prof. Stefan Gheorghiu until she graduated from high school. While still at school, she was additionally taught by Prof. Jakob Gilman as a young student at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich from 2006. After graduating from high school in 2008, she began violin studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Prof. Jakob Gilman. In the summer semester of 2011, she transferred to the Berlin University of the Arts, where she was accepted into the violin class of renowned professor Viviane Hagner. In the summer of 2015, she graduated with honors from the Master of Music program at the Berlin University of the Arts in the violin class of Peter Rainer.

Since 2003, Alexandra Paladi has regularly participated in master classes and academies, including with Prof. Vartan Manoogian at the Margess International Summer Academy in Switzerland, with Prof. Mariana Sirbu in Italy, with Prof. Ingolf Turban, Prof. Nora Chastain and Prof. Ana Chumachenco in Germany, as well as numerous master classes and summer academies with Prof. Zakhar Bron. She also received formative impulses from Prof. Aaron Rosand, whose violin master class she attended in 2008 as part of the Summit Music Festival in New York.

Already during her school years, the violinist participated in numerous national and international competitions, including the international violin competition “Remember Enescu” as well as the “Garabet Avachian Competition”, and was awarded numerous prizes. In 2003 she was a finalist at “Jeunesse Musicale” in Bucharest.

As a member of the CEI Youth Orchestra, she undertook a concert tour of several weeks through Europe in 2005, including Italy, Austria, Slovenia and Hungary.

As a soloist, Alexandra Paladi has performed regularly in recent years at the George Enescu Museum, the Bucharest Athenaeum, the Munich Philharmonie and the Berlin Philharmonie. Her violin recital together with Elena Matteucci, pianist of the Quartetto Michelangelo, in November 2008 at the Auditorium delle Fornaci in Rome received great attention. In addition to her solo activities, she developed an active career as a chamber musician in various young Berlin ensembles.

The young violinist gained important experience as a guest with the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin as well as with the Kammerakademie Potsdam and the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin.

Alexandra Paladi is a welcome guest of the Romanian National Radio, where she has appeared several times in live broadcasts. She also recorded works for Bayerischer Rundfunk and for the Romanian broadcaster TVR International.

Highlights of the 2016/2017 season included collaborations with famous musicians such as Sebastian Studnitzky, Leon Gurvitch, Mari Samuelsen and Kristjan Järvi at the Musikfest Bremen in September 2017.
