The exceptional talent Alexander Malofeev was born in Moscow in 2001 and studied at legendary institutions such as the Gnessin Special School and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscowu. At the age of just thirteen, he won first prize at the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 2014. He has performed with renowned orchestras around the world, such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Lucerne and Verbier Festival Orchestra and the hr-Sinfonieorchester.
Concerts and recitals have taken him to major concert halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Philharmonie de Paris. Malofeev has already worked with well-known conductors including Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Susanna Mälkki, Mikhail Pletnev, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Vasily Petrenko and Fabio Luisi.
In the fall of 2022, Malofeev performed his showpiece, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Vienna Musikverein, which was very well received. Among the highlights of the 2023/24 season include recitals at Carnegie Hall New York and the Musikverien as well as concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and BBC Symphony in London, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under Marin Alsop, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic under Kent Nagano and the Finnish Radio Symphony in Helsinki.
