This is a test for the test artist.

Simon Haje was born in Germany in 2005. He has been taking piano lessons since the age of six and attended preliminary studies at the Berlin University of the Arts at the age of nine.

He is a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Music Academy and takes part in the Academy’s intensive weeks and activities.

Simon has received numerous awards and special prizes at international piano competitions. He received first prizes at the “Klavierpodium München”, the “Schumann-Wettbewerb Düsseldorf”, the “Steinway-Klavierwettbewerb” and the “Klavierwettbewerb Enschede” in the Netherlands. This year alone, he has won first prize in four competitions in succession (Neuchatel, Aarhus, Kronberg, Orbetello).

Simon was already able to gain stage experience at the age of five as a member of the children’s choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He regularly gave public performances at home and abroad. As a pianist, he has played at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Beethovenhaus Bonn and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, among others. He has presented recitals at the Palais Lichtenau in Potsdam, the MS3 Theater, the Christophori Klaviersalon and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.

Simon made his orchestral debut at the age of twelve as a soloist in Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in D minor at the Rheinsberg Palace Theater. At the age of 14, he performed Weber’s Concert Piece in F minor with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra. He made his debut in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus Berlin in 2020 with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3. In 2022 he was the soloist in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie with Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1. In 2022 and 2023, he played Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Simon is a scholarship holder of YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Berlin e.V., the German Music Foundation, Musica Mundi Belgium and the Daniel Hope Academy. Due to his achievements, he was named a Young Steinway Artist in 2022.
